Barbershop Quartet Honor Roll

While doing a name search for a patron doing family history research, I stumbled on to this barbershop quartet honor roll, going back to 1940, and got the biggest kick out of the pictures and names.   Best quartet names:Treblemakers_2

  • Clef Dwellers
  • Pitch Blendaires;
  • Treble Makers
  • Acoustical Persecutin' Four (?!)
  • Air Males; and the very forward-thinking group
  • Hi Tech (1987)

What a hoot!  And I mean that in a laughing-with-them, rather than at-them sort of way.

It was a play on Cliff wich fits in with the clef.....

You inspired me to look at the Ohio site. Noticed the Jurassic Larks and the Apple Corps. (Johnny Appleseed District). Their newspaper is the Cider Press.

but you're right, the Acoustical Persecutin' Four is the absolute best, and the most mysterious.

i am obsessed with:

food city four
crow matix
and the
auto towners, those crooners from detroit.

i am wondering about the clefs-- on the website, it calls them the "clef dewellers". typo. . . or mystery?

Isn't it awesome? It amuses me to no end.

Sweet!
