Naperville Thumbprinters v. Gummy Bears

Karen Schneider has developed a set of questions that the Naperville (IL) Public Library might offer patrons on their website. Naperville, in case you've been napping the past couple weeks, is the second library to introduce a fingerprint ID system for Internet access.

Q. How do you know this technology is safe?

A. Our library board looked at the issue for three months.

Lord, help them. Karen also points to an article about fingerprint ID systems can be foiled with the use of gummy (or gummi) bears.  Here's a big honkin' scholarly paper about it.  We prefer gummy worms in our house...anyone know if those work?
