Blogger Interrupted

I think it's a good sign that I'm able to check-out of my online life now and again, and the past week or so has given me numerous reasons:

  • Major surgery for Big Dad, including several days in ICU. He's home now, but, there were a couple anxious days.  It was hard to see the man who had smacked me around as a young cub at the reference desk so utterly helpless. It just didn't seem right that he needed me to support him. But, we do what we need to do, and Big D has a good tag team between me and his other daughter of choice, Carol.
  • Need to know about ostomies and ostomy bags? I'm your girl.
  • Juniorette has had a tough quarter at school and has needed a lot more hands-on from me, to keep her on-track.  She's also missed quite a bit of school the past month with a couple different ailments.  As a result, I've missed a lot of work.
  • There's an assumption (mostly by moms) that moms are immune from illness.  Not true. We tend to push through a lot of it, but I was finally way-laid a couple days ago.  When a parent takes to bed, he or she is really sick.  It appears that I'm functional again, today, but wouldn't mind another day, dozing off and on with the History Channel providing me with edutainment.
  • I'm also in one of those thoughtful modes where I'm thinking that the profession (outside of my job) and the biblioblogosphere would survive without my presence.  I have a friend who regularly urges me to quit writing about my professional life, and focus on Writing. It's tempting.  And daunting.  I'm thinking.

Coming from a poet, that means more to me than you know. Thank you.

I will say this: you are a stunningly beautiful writer. That pomegranate post...
