I didn't attend the non-fiction bookclub filmed by CSPAN's BookTV yesterday, but heard that it went quite well, and that discussion even got a little spicy. The book being discussed was Barbara Ehrenreich's Nickel and Dimed, about the author's year-long experience working at minimum wage jobs. Apparently, in one the chapters, she talks about a factory job in which she and other workers were not allowed bathroom breaks. One of the group's participants, a delightful older patron, offered that she had worked in a factory as a young adult and said that they were allowed ample breaks including lunch breaks, smoke breaks and......sex breaks. Word is that the BookTV crew was highly amused. I want to know what kind of factory she worked in! Flickr pictures here. I'll post an air date when we know it (about six weeks from now).
